Good News for 2024-2025

Anna Broome of Stuart W. Cramer High School placed second in the Mount Holly Plein Air art contest.

The Stuart W. Cramer High School Raging Storm Marching Band received several awards at the Cox Mill Charger Cup, including second place in Class 2A, second in music performance, second in visual performance, second in general effect, and second in percussion. 

Stuart W. Cramer High School tennis player Olivia Michael won the Big South 3A Conference tournament championship.

Riley Oxendine and Aiden VanderMeer earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program.

Weston McGinnis of Stuart W. Cramer High School was the October Young Exceptional Perspectives (YEP) North Carolina’s Got Talent winner. He was selected by the Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center (ECAC) youth advisory team for his impressive card tricks. 

Keith Henson of Stuart W. Cramer High School was selected for the North Carolina Music Educators Association’s (NCMEA) high school honors chorus. In addition, Maddie Moore is one of only 10 students statewide to be chosen to perform in the North Carolina High School Singer/Songwriter Competition. 

The Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy and Student Government at Stuart W. Cramer High School raised nearly $5,000 in donations for individuals affected by Hurricane Helene. Student Addison Royall coordinated the collection drive.  

The Stuart W. Cramer High School marching band received several awards at the Porter Ridge Pirate’s Cove Classic, including first place for drum major, second place for music, second place for general effect, second place for color guard, third place for visual, and third place overall in Class 2A. 

The Stuart W. Cramer High School Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy collected toys that were purchased with donations from the school’s powder puff game. The toys were delivered to Big Meadows Baptist Church in western North Carolina for families affected by Hurricane Helene.

Erica Scharber of Stuart W. Cramer High School  received the Honda Honigman College Scholarship valued at $4,000 through the Gaston Music Education Foundation.

Corey Simpson of Stuart W. Cramer High School received the Gaston Music Education Foundation scholarship.

Nicolas Martinez of Stuart W. Cramer High School received the Marie Lattimore Torrence Scholarship to attend the Cannon Music Camp from the Gaston Music Education Foundation.

Ann Margaret Sproul of Stuart W. Cramer High School received a Silver Key award for her short story titled “Petrichor” and an honorable mention for her portfolio titled “Stories of Home” in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Stuart W. Cramer High School senior Austin Major placed fourth in the boys 50-yard freestyle at the Class 3A state swimming championship.

Ellery Lamp of Stuart W. Cramer High School received a merit award at the Gaston County Senior Art Show hosted by the Gaston County Art Guild.

Stuart W. Cramer High School placed first in the High School Battle of the Books competition.

Logan Watkins, a senior at Stuart W. Cramer High School, was awarded the prestigious Elizabeth McRae Scholarship to attend Lees-McRae University. The highly competitive and generous scholarship covers full tuition for four years of undergraduate study.

Stuart W. Cramer High School junior Bentley Sly won his third consecutive individual wrestling 3A state championship in the 144-pound weight class.

Stuart W. Cramer High School sophomore Jakalri Galvin earned third place in the boys’ long jump competition at the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A Indoor Track and Field Championship.

The Stuart W. Cramer High School Battle of the Books team won the Region 6 High School Battle of the Books competition and placed third in the state competition. Team members include Ellory Lamp, Kayla Matthews, Lizzy-Jane Ross, Ann Sproul, Piper Summey, Molly Sutphin, and Bhadra Vineetha. The team is coached by Vanessa Griffith.

Stuart W. Cramer High School junior Oshauna Holland was named to the first-team all-state girls’ basketball team.

Stuart W. Cramer High School has 13 students who were chosen for the N.C. All-State Chorus Festival: Sadie Revels, Jade Gilliam, Kailyn Campbell, Corey Simpson, Zach Hatfield, Channing Wright, Victoria Walker, Allisan Beauregard, Maddie McDuffie, Colbie McKee, Kae’Asia Jackson, Kylie Hayslett, and Anna Warren.
